Topic: Fe501 rally build

HI!
My 1st real topic

Sooo I've now been in NL for a couple of years and did a nice 3500km trip to Sweden on my 990S.

I never gelled really well with the 990. Guess I spent too many years on 450's.

I decided to go back to something familiar again, but this time, I wanted to spoil myself.

So 1st order of business, finding a bike.

Got a 2017 501 with a fresh topend on marktplaats.

We used to do 1200km adv rides over a weekend in South Africa, so I'm used to spending a lot of time on a narrow seat.

At least, I used to be. Haha

Although I'd prefer to support local, the Nomad Adv tower seems to carry its weight a bit farther forward than the Radegarage alternative.

And at almost the same price, the carbonfiber rade part looks pro!

First couple packages started to arrive and I immediately
started with assembly

Looking forward to the rest of your build. Do you plan to participate in a rally or stay adventure riding?

Rally's are quite expensive, it seems but if I can find and affordable one, I'd like to.

But mostly adv riding and exploring more of EU

Rally Albania or Hellas rally are quite affordable but always more expensive then adventure riding. Desert rallies are indeed more expensive and sometimes over the top.

Ja subliem 300 gram.
Schrok eerst van de prijs.
Maar goed beschouwt is het enigzins redelijk als je zou weten hoeveel uur erin steekt.

As far as riding is concerned I'd trade SA for NL any day. Been there several times and always planned to go back and get me a bike there instead of a 4wd for a nice long Karoo and Richtersveld trip!

Once this virus silly season is over, we should make a plan for a Cape Town to Namibia trip, along the skeleton coast!

My folks still live in Cape Town so logistics will be no issue

Well, I'm all ears! If such a trip could ever materialize I'm all in. Damn, all we need is 30 liter tanks for Namibia, and a dozen spare tubes!
