Kwam een leuk artikeltje tegen. Gaat eindelijk de beste gps op de markt komen: een 60 cs met losse, op de vrije markt verkrijgbare geheugenkaarten!!

New GPSmap 60/76 and eTrex with SiRF

Garmin GPSmap 60/76 and eTrex series are extended with new models equipped with SiRF high-sensitive GPS receiver and expandable memory. At present these models are unknown on the worldmarket, probably also in US.

Existing GPSmap og eTrex models are some of the most popular GPS receivers for outdoor use. Some users have been missing expandable memory and more sensitive GPS reception in these models. The new x-models have high-sensitive SiRFstarIII chipset receiver and expandable TransFlash™ memory. Maybe we can expect that the upcoming Quest 2 Europe also has SiRF technology and expandable memory.

The preliminary information shows that GPSmap 60/76 x-models have expandable memory and SiRF chipset. It's not confirmed that the eTrex x-models have expandable memory and SiRF chipset, but most likely they have, based on the available information.

GPSmap and eTrex series have functionality for both topographic, road and sea navigation. The new x-models probably have memory capacity for all the map products and areas a user can desire.

The available information says nothing about POI, proximity alarm and avoidance functionality. It's not confirmed that the first x-models are fully compatible with european conditions, but most likely they are. Existing GPSmap and eTrex models are globally compatible.

Prices for the new models seems to be approximately 10% higher than for the predecessors. It's expected that Bass Pro Shops will receive the first units from Garmin the first week in December 2005, at present not confirmed.




This is also good news for the geocachers, as for all with need for more precise positioncalculation and enhanced satellite reception. With SiRFstarIII chipset it's possible to receive good satellite signals in f.ex. forests and areas with high buildings.

Because of the SiRF technology x-models will receive SBAS EGNOS/WAAS DGPS signals much better than the previous models. The use of EGNOS/WAAS gives position accuracy better than 3m 95% of the time in the positioncalculation.


TransFlash™ memory

TransFlash™ is invented by SanDisk. SanDisk has recently made a memory card with the description microSD™/TransFlash™ which has become an open industry standard. It's assumed that this type of card is used in Garmin's new SiRF GPS models. A different card type might be used because this information is not confirmed yet.

MicroSD™/TransFlash™ memory cards are incredibly small, only 11mm wide, 15mm long og 1mm thick. They weigh almost nothing and occupies a minimum of space. At present SanDisk produces the cards with 128mb, 256mb og 512mb memory capacity. They give 5 years warranty. For a 512mb card the price is at present USD 64,99, approximately NOK 440, included norwegian moms/vat NOK 550. It's approximately NOK 1 pr mb.

Volgens mij is het een nieuw soort geheugenkaartje, ze zijn HIER ook al van 512 mb

ah , bou als scandisk het al maakt is het iig vrij verkrijgbaar :-) en dus niet achterlijk duur.

Enig idee of dat probleem dat de 60 serie heeft met het continu herberekenen van auto routes er nou uit gehaald is?

Dat continu herbereken van autoroutes zie ik niet als probleem. Ik heb auto herberekenen gewoon uit staan, als ik afwijk van een route rij ik toch mijn zelf gekozen weg, en op het moment dat ik weer richting eindpunt zou willen laat ik hem gewoon handmatig herbereken.

Garmin kennende al het er gewoon in zitten, om kruising van functies met andere apparaten te voorkomen.

Die Micro SD kaartjes passen weer in een adapter zodat ze in de standaard SD kaartlezer van je PDA enz passen.

Handig als je tracks en routes wilt copieren van PDA naar GPS en vise versa. Heb je dus geen seriele kabel meer nodig en scheelt het waarschijnlijk ook nog een boel in tijd

Yep, dit lijkt wel heel erg op de ideale GPS.

ja hartsikke mooi!
512MB voor 50 euri al te koop

ik heb me aangemeld om te horen zodra notter er binnen heeft. Begin Maart is de verwachting.

Ik zou wel voor een andere stuen gaan dan de Garmin/RAM-mount. Mijn GPS raakt behoorlijk beschadigd in de steun, en krijgt ook best wel wat ruimt. Het is er kennelijk niet op ontworpen om schokken op te vangen zoals ik ze maak op de motor. Misschien heeft TT ene steun waar je GPS wat netter in blijft.

Ben heel erg benieuwd naar de ontvagstkwaliteit vanhet apparaat, die zou beter moeten zijn, maar ik heb eigenlijk alleen problemen onder een dik nat bladerdek. En daar komen volgens mij zowieso geen satellietsignalen doorheen, dus dan kan je ontvanger nog zo goed zijn..........

Hou in de gaten dat Garmin de City Select (het kaartenbestand zeg maar) niet meer maakt. De laatste versie was versie 7. Nu leveren ze alleen nog Cilty Navigator met de producten mee.

Ik diverse webshops die de 60Cx aanbieden, maar dan dus wel de Cilty Select erbij. Houd dit dus in de gaten! (hij staat trouwens bij Futurumshop.nl voor € 599,-- incl verzendkosten (let op: dit is de 60CSx-versie, dus met barometer en electronisch compas (wat ik nog nooit gemist heb, dus of dat zinnig is??)))

Bij andere apparaten (196, 276) gaat het tracklog in intern geheugen en alleen de maps op het kaartje. Dan ben je d'r nog niet om je tracklogs te copiëren.

En ik kon geen recente 60 gebruiksaanwijzing vinden onder bovenstaande link....
