THE 2006 DAKAR IS FULL FOR MOTORBIKES

Although registration only opened on 1 June, the 2006 Dakar is already
full for the motorbike category. The A.S.O. received more than 320
entries in under a month, for a number of places limited to about 230.

Whereas the 2005 Dakar already saw record numbers, the figures for
entries received by 24 June point to the next rally being completely
full, in all categories. Apart from the motorcyclists entered (including
9 women), there will be 10 quads and 3 side-cars at the start in Lisbon
on 31 December next.
In the other two categories competing, the limit has not yet been
reached but 50 cars and 20 trucks are already entered for the event.

For the first time, a Mauritanian motorcyclist will be riding to "brave
the Great Adventure" and will be strengthening the ranks of the African
competitors who are more numerous year by year.
