Hello all,

Sorry I do not write in dutch but still learning.
I am always very surprise when people plan to go riding to Spain (my country) just like that. Riding in Spain off-road is strictly prohibited. Before you go, get informed. "La ley de montes". In every county te law is applied more or less heavily. Specially in the summer get away from Andalucia, Madrid and Cataluña. If "Seprona" (Guardia Civil for the land) or "Forestales" (most of the times radicals greens) get you, you will get bills of several thousands. If you are caught in a national park, like areas of "Las Bardenas reales" you will face serious problems.
My recommendation, do not even think about Madrid, Cataluña, Andalucia (in the summer) and to some extend Basque country. In the rest you should be fine. Never go big groups. If you stop in villages, do not park your vehicles in the high square. Do not ask locals or inform them about your planned route.

If you want routes try "La guia Toyota". In the internet you should not have problems finding nice routes.

Again get away of "Zonas Comanche".

Groetjes,

Does offroad mean next to the road or unpaved roads (pistes) to you?

Riding where there are no roads I can imagine is illegal, but unpaved roads are not illegal I hope.
we planned to ride "some" of them this june

All off road riding is banned. But donot forget Spain is a big country. Get away of "zonas comanche" and you will be fine. Every county applies the law more or less rigid.

Again, it is not question of behaving or not. It is banned and bills are high, very high. You can see the reallity or not. You can ride all your life and nothing happens, but all of you should be informed that what you are doing in not legal. So be carefull. In general Seprona are more permessive, Forestales are not. Do you know that cross tyres are only allowed in MX circuits??.

My experiences are very simple, in "Zona Comaches" (Madrid, Cataluña and summer in Andalucia) you have to know were to ride or do not ride.

Even MX circuits are being closed.

Traditional enduros are having problems getting the right licenses from the local authorities. Small companies organizing enduro routes are closing down....

Prices at the moment in Spain are highly interested either new or used. For instance a gasgas EC250 (2008) new is about 4500 euros. :o

In September RumboSur organizes a Dakar training. A few spanish dakar riders will be there. Several levels (groups) will be organized. I know the 2 organizes and they are totally reliable. Prices are very competitive. In a few weeks I will see them and ask about the details. I think the idea was to establish the headquarters in Erfoud.

Also in Octuber a good friend, Pepe Palomares of Dunaaventura plan a week in Marocco with roadbook. Pepe is an intitution in Spain. Perhaps the best spanish dakar motor mechanic. He was the one responsible that the shitty BMW that Pellicer brought to Dakar did not stop working every day. Even though I heard the last day they had to push it to the podium, please don't tell anyone since this is confidential information  :-X .
Pepe told me a couple of months ago the route is not yet finalized. If anyone is interested I will post the info here.
