well, i believe i have unlocked the mysteries of the offroad abs dongle for the 690 after reading a link posted in here for instructions and then a little testing outside on the bike.
as previously posted, there is a perfect spot to slip the rubber over to mount the dongle located under the ecu - just pull it up and out of the way and you will see a plastic piece it can slide onto.
as far as the different abs modes, this is what i've found:
you can never have access to all three modes while the bike is running. there are basically two "base" settings - one that ha both front and rear abs and one that has front only. from that "base" setting, you can then hold the abs button and turn the abs that is functioning completely off.
in order to get into the different base settings you simply have the "emergency off" button in a different posssition when you turn the keyed ignition.
so, in order to have full abs (function rear wheel abs) - have the emergency swiitch in the "off" position when you turn the keyed ignition on. when you turn the keyed ignition on with the emergency switch in the off position, the base setting is now "road abs" - or both front and rear abs. then when you hold the abs button on the dash board, it disables both front and rear abs. there is no way to get into off road abs without turning the keyed ignition off from this point.
in order to go into offroad abs as the base setting, have the emergency switch set to "on" position when you turn the keyed ignition. now the base setting is the offroad abs mode, or front only abs. from there holding the abs button will disable the front wheel abs, and then holding it again will turn the front wheel abs back on. there is no way to get the rear wheel abs functioning, without turning off the keyed ignitions, setting the emergency switch to off, and then turning the keyed ignition back on.
hope this rambling makes sense. for me, i don't like the sensitivity of the rear abs, so i'll always use the offroad abs mode. which means i need to always have the emergency shutoff switch in the "off" position when i turn the keyed ignition on.
