Is Enduro legal or not???
« Gepost op: 29-11-2017, 04:43 »
Hello,

I am living in Eindhoven and I am a circuit (asphalt) track day user.
I really would like to get to know the off-road world but I have basically zero experience.
I know that there are many motocross tracks in the area, but since I am a beginner, I would like to just drive (cruising) a bit "in the woods".
My questions are:
- is it legal to just drive off-road? If yes, where can I go in the surroundings of EHD?
- if not, how can I practice enduro?? only races?

please

Best regards

Hi Ubba,

4 starters... Whe use the term Enduro specificly in case of a offroad race.. if its not a race, whe call it offroad riding. Just so you know, and people don't get confused. ;)

Offroadriding is legal in The Netherlands as long as you don't ride closed of track/roads.

The clue is in the sign at the start of the track/road:

http://www.maniacsmedia.nl/chevreto/image/u36T
This green sign is telling us it is private property, opened to the public. entry only on foot, don't go off the track, put a leasch on dogs etc.. no vehicles allowed.

http://www.maniacsmedia.nl/chevreto/image/uhiu
no explanation necessary..

http://www.maniacsmedia.nl/chevreto/image/u9mW
closed for all motorised vehicles on two wheels or more, except mopeds/small scooters (50cc engine)

You are entering state forrest area. Only enter on foot or bicycle. No motorized entry!

http://www.maniacsmedia.nl/chevreto/image/uVCq
This sign may give some confusion to other road users. The official explanation for this sign is: closes to all motorized vehicles on three wheels ore more. So.. motorbikes are welkome! Not all Dutch people know this, and will sometimes lead to discussion. Especially because this sign is mostly used to keep traffic away from rural area's. mostly after complaints from people ho live in that area and don't like traffic. You probably will irritate the hardliners there.. but! its legal on your bike.. ;)

For an not dutch speaking person all the different signs are hard to read. Sometimes the green and orange signs say that motorized traffic IS allowed, but only on the wide tracks.
Tip to you. send a PM to the organizer of brabo600. His team organizes offroad riding in Brabant and is allways willing to give some ride tips and training. ;)

Enduro evenements are legal
Driving in the woods around eindhoven are mostly not allowed. However there are some possibilities.
Find them by expierence.
If you see the orange or green signs its forbidden.(mostly see above)
If you dont see them its still not sure that its open for motorized traffic.
Sorry but its hard in the netherlands but if you
R willing to take a risk eindhoven is one off the best parts off the netherlands for green laning.

thats a hard question.

I recommend to follow the track on you screen, and use street view where you see the track go in to a forrest or on to a dirt track. But be advised. Roads get closed on a regular basis. So street view may be out of date.

If it looks to be an legal track. Ride it. at places where there is an raod closed ore you are onsure. just ride a de-tour and pick the track back up where it leaves the closed section.

After some time, you'll find the good riding areas. ;)

Good luck. And if you ever want to ride in the north (Drenthe/Groningen), just send a PM.
